Creating an Excel Diagram from a CSV file

At the bottom of diagrams, links to CSV files (comma-separated values) are provided. These can be used for generating an equivalent diagram in an external program such as Microsoft Excel or OpenOffice Calc. You might want to do this

for getting full control over the formatting. You might want a pie chart instead of a bar diagram, or you might want different colors.
as an easy way of importing a diagram into a PowerPoint presentation, Word document or similar.

1. Get the CSV data.

Click on the link at the bottom of a diagram to download a CSV file that contains all the data needed for the diagram. Your browser might already be configured such that Microsoft Excel is automatically opened when you click on the link. Otherwise, you might have to save the file and open it from Excel.

2. Create Excel Chart.

After opening the CSV file in Excel,

highlight the area of cells containing the data (here: A3:B20),
click on the Chart Wizard.

3. Format Chart.

Use the Chart Wizard according to your taste.

4. Done.

That's it. Now you can copy and paste the chart into a presentation, text document or something similar.
